Stanislav Bogunia

Stanislav Bogunia was born at Karviná. He developed his extraordinary musical talent in the piano department of the Ostrava Conservatory and then at the Prague Academy of Performing Arts in prof. D. Baloghová’s class. It was only a matter of time before he expressed his talent in other fields. So it was no surprise that in 1980 he graduated from Václav Neumann’s class in conducting.
Stanislav Bogunia’s main artistic activities initially focused mainly on the piano, renowned as an excellent, technically exceptionally available and easy-to-accompany and chamber player. He proved this at hundreds of concerts with violinist Václav Hudeček all over the world. He has not left this area even now, when he has been a teacher of the Prague Academy of Music for more than twenty years and helps young, talented artists with their first stage opportunities.
In addition, he acts as choirmaster and conductor. He was, among other things, the chief conductor of the West Bohemian Symphony Orchestra in Mariánské Lázně and the conductor of the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava, where, for example, he exceptionally combined the two roles – conductor and pianist in a great performance of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, which was broadcast live by Czech Television. He also worked as a choirmaster of the Czech Radio Choir in Prague and conductor of radio symphonic Calculating the countries in which Stanislav Bogunia hosted is a task both difficult and unnecessary.
His art had the opportunity to be recognized by listeners almost all over the world – from South America to Japan. He also uses his interpretive experiences, life experiences and musical erudition in his compositional activities.
